Guidelines

The following is our © and may not be used on any other site. Thank you for respecting this.

A warm welcome to new members.

It is a pleasure to have you here and we are happy to see that you have found your way into our humble home. In light of our unique vision and premise, we realize that there can be confusion as to the type of forum we are, what you can expect from us and what we, in turn, expect from you. We do not subscribe to the philosophy of speaking in riddles and expecting our members to then decode it. We prefer to speak plainly so that everyone understands clearly who we are and that, in the end, helps the forum run more smoothly.

Below is a type of question and answer session. We will try to cover the main points about the forum that many newcomers have but please, feel free to ask questions if you are still unclear about anything. The more informed you are, the more enjoyable your experience will be here.

Note: Before you continue, we cannot stress this point enough to our new and old members. Please, read the guidelines of our forum. (Link) Doing this helps you understand what is acceptable and avoids embarrassing situations in which your actions or words are brought into question by an Administrator.

Q. What is Immortal Sojourns?
A. Immortal Sojourns is a community whose central theme is the world of Anne Rice. On our board, you are welcome to participate in conversations with our staff who all portray a character from her books, most notably her vampires.

Q. So is this role-play or not?
A. This is the question that causes the most confusion with our new members. The answer is that we are but we are not.

Immortal Sojourns is not a role-play forum in the traditional sense. Members do not join our forum as a character and role-play story-lines with the immortals. The members who are part of Immortal Sojourns are for all intents and purposes, “themselves,” and the role-play occurs when they participate in certain board sponsored events (like our Vampire Chronicles University) or interact with our actors who portray the characters of Anne Rice’s world. Obviously, one has to suspend belief and interact with the characters as though they were “real” for the theme of our forum to work.

We will not allow members to represent themselves as vampires or any other supernatural creature, mortal vampire pets, slaves, hunters, slayers, half-breeds or anything else that would denote character-like qualities.

Q. How can someone become a character?
A. Immortal Sojourns does not accept “character” requests. The administration selects staff based on many criteria and one of the main ones is active and meaningful interactions on the board. Administration approaches staff candidates privately and requests respectfully that you do not contact them concerning this matter. (Don ‘t call us, we’ll call you.)

Note: Immortal Sojourns encourages members creativity by providing forums where they can share their written works. Just because you cannot play a character here, does not mean that you cannot write poetry, prose or stories. These are all acceptable and we hope you share them with us.

Q. Where can I find more information about the different aspects of the forum?
A. This can be done in our Guided Tour forum (Link) . This forum answers questions about our original monetary system that allows you to purchase the ability to write with our Immortals, as well as questions about avatar and signature size, our 5 post minimum to use our PM system and other unique features of our forum that you may not be acquainted with.

Take advantage of this section and read it thoroughly.

The most important thing to know about us as a forum is that our focus is community. Without it, we would be nothing. The vampires are but the icing on a strong foundation of members who’s intelligent, creative, friendly and warm nature make this forum a true home away from home for many. We hope you are one of those members.
