"Your Song" by Elton John (Performed by Vigilante)

I thought I would go with the theme of the place, and perform a Moulin Rouge song. It didn't take much urging from Santiago to get me up on the stage. I'm still wearing my top hat, penguin jacket, white-ruffled shirt, fishnet stockings and tap shoes. Although the song was not a tap number..

As I walk toward the center of the stage, the audience can hear me clip-clapping along. Slowly, I clear my throat, tip my hat in Santiago's direction, and then let my voice soar...

My gift is my song...

I pause, while the last word echoes about the room. The music starts, and I continue onward...

And this one's for you
And you can tell everybody
That this is your song
It maybe quite simple
But now that it's done
Hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind
That I put down in words
How wonderful life is now you're in the world

The melody is slow, though not unbearably so, and after this verse the pace picks up a bit. I have deviated slightly from the original to make the song seem more upbeat.

Sat on the roof
And I kicked off the moss
Well some of the verses well
They got me quite cross
But the sun's been kind
While I wrote this song
It's for people like you that
Keep it turned on

So excuse me for forgetting
But these things I do
You see I've forgotten
If they're green or they're blue
Anyway the thing is well I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen

At this, the music swells, and thousands upon thousands of little peices of glitter fall from the roof. Various dancers join me from backstage, each prancing around with their own umbrellas. These umbrella's also sparkle, and the stage is aglow with glittering light. I had strapped myself to a harness, and for the last two verses I am lifted skyward -

And you can tell everybody
This is your song
It may be quite simple
But now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words

How wonderful life is now you're in the world
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is now you're in the world

The music stops, and my feet are returned to the ground. I grin, bow, and walk off the stage, guiltily eaving it littered with glitter.
