For Cat and Brenda... never doubt - written by Santiago/Louis/Lestat
Narrator:
Clearing my voice, I grin playfully then begin. My voice is a perfect and traditional announcer
voice.
This is a tale about two ladies. We could start this as a typical fairytale and go on and on about
how it was long ago and far away... but that's not even close to what this is about. So, instead, we
start with... this is a tale of two ladies. Don't like it? Go write your own story. Grins
Now then, where were we? Ah yes, these two young ladies... they were the best of friends and loved to
do everything together. Their names were Cat and Brenda Lee. Combining their skills, they came up
with all sorts of plots and schemes to attempt to torment the vampires of Immortal Sojourns. A place
that they spent much time on and had many laughs. What they were not aware of a spell that was being
cast upon them... or is that a prank to get even? Either way, they weren't expecting it.
This spell was a powerful one and when they went to get on Immortal Sojourns, they found themselves
lost within the fanclub of Santiago. As they searched for a way to get out, they instead ran into the
most handsome vampire they'd ever met. With elegant grace he introduced himself as Louis...
Louis:
“Mes cheries, you look more than a little lost…would you allow me to provide you with some guidance?”
As the two young ladies turned to look at me, the faintest curve of a smile touched my lips, and I
bowed in their direction cordially, treating them as I would one that I was courting.
“Your names, my loves?”
The response as Cat and Brenda told me only caused that hint of hidden humour to further manifest,
and it took a few moments before I could reply.
“Very beautiful names…for two beautiful ladies.”
My eyes danced with the light of some hidden humour that they did not know the source of, and I
beckoned them to me, approaching a step or two closer myself so that it would seem less like a
command, something that I did not wish to imply, since it was a request and an offer of help. Or,
so they would presume.
As they drew nearer, the smile only grew, and I kissed both lightly on the cheek, delighting in the
sudden flush of mortal colour beneath my lips, for it had been a long while since any warmth had
graced my home. This was about to change as I extended my invitation. As I held my arms out, I felt
slender fingertips fold around them, and my voice was soft when I next spoke.
“Until you are able to find your way back, I suggest that you come to my home for a while. It is safe
enough there and you are weary and will be able to rest for a time.”
As I felt the acquiescence of both, I led them from that place, ensconcing us within a carriage
within moments. The journey was not long, but both ladies were indeed exhausted and fell asleep
whilst we travelled, enough time for me to gather my thoughts. Both were exceedingly charming…
certainly too good for me to let go. As a result, though they knew it not yet, I would be keeping
them as my companions…some of the cruder persuasion might have named it as slavery.
Waking them gently and leading them from the carriage, I lead them the final few steps to the grand
expanse of my home…a castle, giving evidence of immeasurable wealth and the dignity of nobility.
“Welcome to Chateau du Lac,” I said quietly, watching their reactions to the splendour of it. My
ancestors and I took great pride in the state of the place, and so to see their response of awe was
most gratifying. Neither of them caught the slightly more feral edge to my smile as we stepped inside,
and as the door closed behind us, I turned away from them, sweeping forward to sit in the nearest
chair. A table before them covered in food and drink awaited, and I saw their startled expressions,
Cat pausing to question it, only to be smoothly silenced by my words.
“You are both safe here, now, and I would enjoy it very much if you would grace me with your presence
a while longer. I ask only that you do not enter the dungeon.”
At this, there is no mistaking the change in my voice, however slight, and both of them look at me
with wide eyes before I bespell them once again, the hint of shock fading. They would stay, of their
own will, and serve me as my companions. Seeing that erosion of resistance die as I watched, I smiled
faintly once again and began to explain their boundaries and abilities whilst here.
Narrator:
So with much laughter in the air, they followed the immeasurably good looking and extremely wealthy
vampire back to his home. A castle far up on a mountain with a view in all directions. It was here
Cat and Brenda Lee stayed with the vampire and served his every wish. (Yeah yeah, we know, who can
say no to Louis, right? Don't try and deny it.) All the time they stayed with the delicious Louis,
they were told never to go down into the dungeon. Things lived there that should not be seen by
mortal eyes. For several months, Cat and Brenda Lee listened to Louis... but one day, they got
curious. (Oh boy do we know about their curiosity!) Their curiosity found them down in the dungeon.
It was here they heard a noise unlike any other and approached with caution. When they came around
the corner, it was there they saw a man chained and upon his knees. His ebony tresses fell over his
face and hid his features. They approached slowly and he looked up at them and a grin tugged at one
side of his mouth.
Santiago:
Looking up through the strands of hair that hung before my face, I couldn't help but grin, knowing
that 1 and 2 had disobeyed the direct command of Louis. Perhaps it was a good thing that I had thought
it purposeful to come down here.
Putting first one foot flat upon the floor and than the other, I stood to my full height and howled.
I saw both ladies jump and my laughter that echoed through the halls of the dungeon was dark and
morbid. My eyes shifted color and my transformation began.
The shackles that I had put myself in for a ruse worked for their intended purpose and fell with a
loud clang upon the wall behind me. As I continued to transform, long black fur coated my body. I was
near the edge of a wall, so I quickly reached around and grasped two cans of paint that I'd placed
there.
Decorating my room, hmm? Let's see how you like being painted... and permanently!
Before they had a chance to move, I started spraying. One coated Cat with pink paint and the other
coated Brenda Lee with purple. Laughter that came from my now muzzled maw was close to being bayed.
I ran after the ladies, finishing off the cans as I fell to all fours and snapped at them as they
escalated the stairs.
I couldn't wait to see what Louis would say with regard to their behavior.
Narrator:
Cat and Brenda Lee ran back upstairs colored forever and laughing as the black wolf, Santiago,
followed them. They ran up to the drool-worthy vampire Louis and he couldn't help but laugh at
their now permanent colors. Santiago stalked up and sat down next to Louis, his lips curled back
over canines into a grin.
Louis:
A few moments later and the laughter had died in my throat, my amusement fading in the face of their
disobedience. Slowly but surely, their company had ceased to charm me and was now becoming nothing
more than an irritation. Thankfully, I had a solution, and I could see the growing fear on their
faces as my own remained impassive, something that they took almost immediately as a sign of my
anger. They had not yet seen me angry in the duration of their time here, but my patience was waning
thin and I was beginning to lose that grip upon my temper.
“The two of you have disobeyed me, and for that, I cannot say that you have my approval. However,
there is a grand ball tonight, and I would have the two of you attend in my stead to ease my
annoyance with both of you.”
A faint chuckle escaped once more at their appearances, and soon they were within the coach, rolling
away to never come back, though they did not know it. I sighed faintly with relief, and went to
inspect the damage in the dungeon briefly, whilst those few who had inhabited my home were absent.
Narrator:
They stood around at the ball, thankfully it was a masquerade ball so their silly colors fit right
in. A blond walked over to them and smiled, pulling away his mask.
Lestat:
I lurked in the shadows as was my habit..a trifle bored as I watched the usual crowd of village
damsels, Lords and Ladies, trolls, ogres, requisite village idiot and assorted hangers-on. Same
old, same old...if you have seen one Fairy Princess swathed in 50 yards of tulle net and gossamer
wings, you have seen them all. And do not even get me started on what the women were wearing...
Pulling at the cuff of my oh-so-boring Louis XIV frock coat, I felt the call of the night stirring
my blood. A nervous giggle caught my attention and my eyes wandered onto two...unusual young women,
decked from head to toe in various hues of purple and pink...right down to their skin. Now that is
something you do not see very often...especially in a small back water village like this. Must be
Emo....or foreigners.
Catching the shoulder of a footman, I inquired as to their names and was told they went by "Cat"
and "Brenda Lee"...must be Catholic School girls...a very rare treat. I was intrigued and approached
them both, sweeping an elaborate bow as I dropped a kiss on each offered hand. Eyeing their ample
and well displayed charms I led first one, then the other onto the crowded dance floor, marveling
at their agility and grace. We swirled, we dipped, we gyrated, we cavorted. We even danced....
My animal instincts were threatening to overwhelm me and I knew it was time to call it a night
before this costume gave way to a more intriguing reality. Growling in the ear of Cat, I looped
an arm around Brenda Lee and summoned the limo. They seemed more than agreeable with the plan and
willingly piled in with me. And off we sped into the night.
Narrator:
And so Lestat continued to charm the ladies as they rode in the car, headed home. As they got closer
to the house, the ladies got more and more nervous. They knew this territory and they looked at
Lestat in horror. When the car stopped before the great mansion, they both sighed when Lestat got out.
Following him in the mansion, Lestat walked up to Louis and wrapped his arms around Louis' body,
kissing him with the warmth of a lovers greeting. His head turned and he looked back at the pink and
purple ladies, smiled, and transformed into the wolf that he was. The other wolf, Santiago, padded
out and sat down once again on the other side of Louis.
So there this magnificent vampire stood with his two wolves on either side of him, a hand resting
between both of their shoulder blades. It is with the most delicate of smiles that forms on the lips
of Louis before Cat and Brenda Lee hear the words come from his lips that they feared.
'Lestat, Santiago... they're all yours.' He then turns and leaves and the wolves stalk forward.
It is here we end our tale. The moral? There needs to be one? Oh very well, let's just say that it
is not good to meddle in the homes of immortals. Their minds are twisted like this tale and you never
know when it might come back to... bite you. I hope you enjoyed and learned from this little
demented tale.
Oh yes, and a second moral, never tell an immortal that you are completely certain that two or more
could never team up to make you the target of their creativity. You might just end up with your own
permanent color of paint.
